My go-to in the evenings, or about an hour after my last session of the day. There’s no better recovery than sleep, so anything that helps promote it is hugely beneficial to performance.”

Jan Frodeno, 3 x Ironman World Champion

"To be honest I was never a big believer in supplements but when I heard how PILLAR's Triple Magnesium would improve sleep I gave it a try and my sleep data doesn’t lie. As sleep is my number one priority in terms of recovery this is a game changer in my opinion."

          Freddie Funk, 6 x Ironman 70.3 Champion

“I wasn’t a big supplement user previously, but with PILLAR, I now understand the value high quality micronutrition has on recovery and performance. I’ve never slept better.”

          Brett Robinson, Olympic Marathoner

“My deep sleep improves by 9% when I have more magnesium according to my WHOOP data. It is more clear on the nights when I forget to take my magnesium. It's now a non-negotiable for me before bed nightly.”

          Ellie Salthouse, Ironman 70.3 Champion

"Sleep has always been one of the most important aspects of recovery to me. However, it can be tough to always get a good nights sleep, especially now that I have two kids!

When I took PILLAR, I literally saw through my sleep data, that my quality of sleep improved!"

          Ben Kanute, Olympic Triathlete

“I’ve finally had a consistent week recording sleep and loading up on magnesium right before bed and the improvement throughout the week is very clear. More relaxed, less stress and better recovered."

My recovery is now improved and I have started seeing this reflected in my training."

          Frequently Asked Questions

          Why is PILLAR magnesium different?

Most athletes have supplemented with ‘Magnesium’ at some point in time - often trying to support sleep, muscle recovery or to fix cramping issues - yet almost all have failed to find any noticeable benefit and thus stopped. The problem is these athletes are using products not designed for them. Pharmaceutical companies have always focused on mass sedentary populations, thus the ‘forms’ of magnesium and the potency within the formulations are not solving the need states of endurance athletes. PILLAR’s Triple Magnesium range was purposefully curated to support sleep and muscle recovery for endurance athletes. Using leading sports science research, a selection of the most bioavailable forms of magnesium were formulated at appropriately high potency. While the pharmaceutical industry focuses on a sedentary demographic, PILLAR unapologetically supports performance outcomes.

          How does magnesium aid sleep?

Magnesium is the vital micronutrient to support sleep as it is a cofactor in the hormone synthesis of serotonin which the brain transforms into melatonin.

Do endurance athletes require more magnesium?

Athletes require more. Full stop. Just like macronutrients; protein, carbohydrates, and fats, are required at greater levels for athletes. This same exists for micronutrients. Magnesium is depleted through sweat, urination, and lipolysis; all incurred at greater levels when undertaking endurance exercise. Therefore, those participating in endurance sports need to be aware that they deplete magnesium at far greater rates than sedentary people

Why do athletes need vitamin B?

A major function of vitamin B is the metabolism of proteins and amino acids, and particularly in the case of thiamine, riboflavin and vitamin B6 – are used to convert food into energy that can be utilised during exercise, with supplementation demonstrating the ability to support efficient energy production at a cellular level. Folate and vitamin B12 play an integral role in the synthesis of red blood cells and the repair of damaged muscle cells.

When's the best time to take B vitamins for performance outcomes?

As vitamin Bs help break down food for energy, they are best taken in the morning, even before a morning workout. They are water soluble so don’t need to be taken with food.
